Publicity

In the first triennium the RCfTA has concentrated on establishing itself within the astronomical community through our research and also through such means as attendance at the AGM of the Astronomical Society of Australia and hosting the Harley Wood Winter School and other workshops. Following a suggestion by the Review Panel, the RCfTA is now turning its attention to raising its profile within the University and the wider community.

Jenny Nicholls has been given the job of publicity officer as part of her administrative responsibilities within the RCfTA. An article about Simon Johnston joining the RCfTA has appeared in the `University News', and a news item about the workshop `Born with a Bang' appeared in the astronomy magazine `Sky & Space'. Lucyna Kedziora-Chudczer, a PhD student in the RCfTA, was twice interviewed on the SBS Radio Polish program about her research and about astronomy in general. Further publicity initiatives are planned for 1994.
