Postgraduate Training

Members of the RCfTA are involved in the training of postgraduate students in the School of Physics. Some seven PhD students and one Honours student were supervised by RCfTA staff members during 1993. The RCfTA funded two PhD student stipends during 1993 and employed two Research Assistants for short periods, one a recently-finished Honours student and the other a prospective PhD student who decided to start a PhD program in the RCfTA in 1994.

The Research Centre participates in the School of Physics vacation scholarship program for undergraduates who have just completed their second year of physics. This system was formalised in 1993, resulting in a significant increase in the number of vacation scholars. The Research Centre provided funds for one vacation scholar during the summer of 1992-93 and four such students in the summer of 1993-94.
