Welcome to the Solar Energy Group
Solar energy research has a 30+ year history at the School of Physics, starting with pioneering work in solar selective coatings for solar thermal absorbers. This solar thermal work continues today together with work on advanced semiconductor photovoltaic devices. The group has strong collaborations with leading solar energy research groups worldwide and recently spun-out a company, USSS that is commercialising the group's work.
