A visit to CPL from the International Science School
The 32nd Professor Harry Messel International Science School was held on 6th - 19th of July this year at the School of Physics of the University of Sydney. The International Science School brings together around 140 year 11 and year 12 students from around Australia and overseas for two weeks. The program includes talks by prominent scientists from Australia and overseas centering on a particular theme. This year the themes was "FROM ZERO TO INFINITY". Participants were fortunate enough to visit the many laboratory groups here at the School of Physics. Complex Plasma Laboratory was one of the groups the student visited.
We gave a presentation to the students of what we real life physicists do. Complex Plasma Laboratory showed the students both the experimental apparatus and the procedure of data analysis for complex plasma. The general response from the student was great. One students commented that physics has always been given the bad image of being a boring subject. After their visit to the many laboratories here, they realised that physics is more exciting than one thought. And many of the talented students from the group mentioned that they are going to pursue in the career of sciences.
