Meetings and Events
General meetings and events that may interest you are listed on the Physics Calender and on the site listing Meetings.
A few meetings of general interest follow:
The School of Physics Colloquium
This is on 3pm Mondays in the Slade lecture theatre. The colloquia are 45 minute talks on a topic of general interest to academic staff of the School; cake is provided. All research students are encouraged to attend and will be advised by email of the week's topic and presenter. See the Physics Colloquia site for details, schedule and previous colloquia.
Research Bites
Research Bites are 20-30 minute presentations at 11am Thursdays during teatime, in the tearoom. They are relatively informal, and provide an entertaining overview of interesting research or pursuits. See the Research Bites website for the schedule.
Teatime
11am every weekday is the popular time for morning tea. Biscuits provided by the Science Foundation are offered in the tearoom at this time.
Group Meetings and Special Events
Research groups also hold their own informal meetings, discussion groups or seminars on items of more particular interest. Emails are usually circulated within the research group exploder regarding when these are held.
Social events are held throughout the year, including the annual School of Physics End of Year party each December. The school invites all staff, postgraduate and Honours students, and it is normally held at the Grandstand (nearby). Emails are circulated with details of this party, and any special events.
