Information for Undergraduate Students

Information and resources linked from here should provide Current Students with useful information and help you ‘navigate’ the University bureaucracy. If you have suggested additions please email the .

Where to go for help

If you need help, you can:

  • as a first step, always check these Physics pages , your unit eLearning pages or MyUni for information, documents and links. (The eLearning system is commonly also called WebCT).
  • ask other students using the Discussion forum provided on the unit eLearning pages
  • go to the Physics Student Office, Room 202 in the Physics building, or phone 9351 3037.
  • ask your lecturer or tutor
  • consult the one of the Services provided by the University - see the University Student Services Unit.

Read your email!

The University provides you with email access via your UniKey account. The eLearning system provides another similar email address which is internal to the eLearning system. We may use either email address to provide you with important information regarding this unit of study. We expect you to periodically read both email accounts or to forward mail from them to an email account you do read (eg. a hotmail account).
(To set forwarding for eLearning, choose 'My settings' and then 'My Tools'. For UniKey, go to IT Assist and choose 'Students' and 'Your Account'.)

Consideration of factors affecting your study

If your academic performance in a Science Faculty unit of study is adversely affected by events or circumstances, you should complete an Application for Special Consideration or an Application for Special Arrangements, with accompanying documentation. These two forms of Consideration should cover most allowable circumstances, however in circumstances outside the usual guidelines, an Application for Consideration of Special Circumstances by Physics may be appropriate.

You should not submit an application of any type if

  • there is no assessment associated with a missed class, or
  • you have a reasonable opportunity to make up any work you missed.

See Consideration of factors affecting your study or your Unit/Module Outlines for further details.
