How To Find Us

The Physics Building is located near the centre of the main campus just near the No. 1 Oval. Please see below for campus maps and guides for public transport.

Campus and Regional Maps

See the University's map website for campus and regional maps. Of particular use is a large map of the Camperdown campus, and a map for the portion of the campus just near the Building. Google also provides an interactive map.
Maps of the campus and surrounding area are also available from the Main Office or the Student Support Office. Note, for when using some maps, that the building code for the Physics building is A28, and the code for the connected annexe is A29.

University Parking and University bus service

General information regarding campus parking and alternative transport is given at the following two websites: Campus Infrastructure Traffic & Parking, and Transport and Security for current students. Navigate to other pages via the menu provided on the left of each page.

During semester there is a free University bus service which passes the Physics building about every 45 minutes and takes you to Redfern Station. It is a loop route, so you could be on the bus for about half an hour. There is a timetable posted at the stop located outside the west door of A28. See the Security Bus service website for information and timetables.

Public Transport

Taxis are easily flagged down on both City and Parramatta Roads, or you can order a taxi to pick you up outside the building. The taxi company the School uses is Taxis Combined and their number is 133300.
Buses can also be caught on both City and Parramatta Roads. See the list of relevant buses. Bus Tickets can be purchased on the buses (small change needed), but if you intend to use buses frequently, TravelTen tickets give you ten trips for just over half the price. See 131500.info for timetables and other information. These can be bought at most newsagents, including those in the Holme and Wentworth buildings, on the University campus.

Trains can be caught from Redfern, Macdonaldtown or Newtown stations, each about fifteen minutes walk away (more trains stop at Redfern). Trains run at frequent intervals during the day. Again, see 131500.info.

There is also a short paragraph on public transport below the University campus map.

It is not advisable to travel around the University on your own after hours or when it is dark. Travel with someone else if possible or if late at night you can request security to come and give you an escort to the nearest bus or train station. Security can be contacted on 9351 3487.

Building Entry

The School of Physics building is open between approximately 7:15 am and 5:15 pm Monday to Friday. Staff and Students can obtain an out of hours access card. Please see here for details.
